48 hours in San Francisco
I can get bored with places if I linger around the same place for too long, so reading online about what a city has to offer I can map in my head places I want to go and see, sometimes ill-thoughout-out but it is what it is. But over the years I’ve learned how to plan accordingly and my itineraries have been mostly well planned and allowed me to see what I wanted to see. Some people need more time to see places or they just like to slowly explore, I on the other hand, like things in a fast paced kind of way so I spent as much time as I can outdoors exploring a new city, and I mean walking non-stop for like 10+ hours which I think is not how many people do it.
In average I spent about 2-3 days in each city and anything above that will most likely make me bored depending on the city. For huge cities such as New York, Seoul, Moscow I did need about 4 days for only getting a taste of the place, I think those big cities need weeks or maybe months for you to get a full sense of the place, which requires living which requires a job/studies and that requires visas so it can be hard to make things work.
Before going to San Francisco I had planned with friends our itinerary which helped us quite a lot, I still remember us sitting down at Starbucks and sharing a Google map of places we would like to go so each one of us was placing pins all over the pin. At the end of it we had a good sense of the places we should go and how much time we had to do it. We decided to spend 48 hours in San Francisco which were enough to see these things below.
A good option to try and dodge all the tourists taking pictures of the Bridge is to go early in the morning, like we did. Hence our i-just-woke-up faces.
A lot of roads and bridges in California are free but you can expect to pay toll fees on some roads and bridges you cross. Our rental car company took care of that and let us know before hand when we picked up our car, we just had to pay a fee in advance and that gave us free access to all tolls and bridges in California.
I didn’t use to travel much but once I started, I just can’t stop travelling. On Can I Pack? I try to share how I make my travels work out because travelling shouldn’t be hard.
