Driving through California’s Coast
Roadtrips is my favorite way of travelling, why? You just do your thing, literally, make random stops as you please and always come across places you would never expect to see. Some friends and I have done a road trip through California’s Coast and it was awesome, plenty of places to see and take pictures of and a lot of driving, lots of it. There are tons of ways to do it, renting an RV, driving a car, motorbiking and so on, we rented a car planned on the map some spots we wanted to see and hit the road, I obviously didn’t stop in every single city along the way but I’ll show some of the places I did stop and are worth checking out.
We flew from Seattle to San Francisco, at the San Francisco airport we picked up the car we had booked beforehand and started driving. We spent all up 7 nights in California staying in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.
On our way out of San Francisco we saw the Golden Gate Bridge.
This was one of those places we just spontaneously decided to stop and see, it was really not on our plans but totally worth it.
This next spot was one I had been wanting to see for ages, I’d seen it on tv, online so I’d pinned it on our map as a must-go spot, Bixby Bridge.
The Bixby Bridge is well known spot along the Californian Coast and is also part of the Big Sur which is basically where land and ocean meet for 145km along the Coast.
Have I mentioned the sunset on the Californian Coast is also pretty cool?
So basically from San Francisco to Los Angeles took us about 8 hours give or take with these stops along the way. Going from Los Angeles to San Diego we took the faster route which was more inland therefore we didn’t face the ocean. Another spot worth driving through not really part of the California Coast is the Death Valley. You will very likely pass it if you plan accordingly and if you are going to Las Vegas since it is close to the California/Nevada border.
I didn’t use to travel much but once I started, I just can’t stop travelling. On Can I Pack? I try to share how I make my travels work out because travelling shouldn’t be hard.
