Seattle
For the first time I entered uncle Sammy’s land. Seattle is located in Washington, one of the many states so this is my impression of Seattle.
Not very different from Vancouver (Canadians/Americans might not appreciate this comparison), probably for the proximate between Vancouver and Seattle both cities have this laid-back feeling to it, there’s nature, nightlife, a business district, everything in sync. One of the reasons for this trip was definitely the shopping spree which I didn’t find as cheap as some say. Also, the famous Seattle Outlet Mall is locate outside of Seattle, more precisely in Marysville so a car is definitely a requirement going back and forth between those two.
Seattle most famous spots are the Space Needle, where you can have a 360º view of downtown Seattle and the Museum of Music.
What it was definitely noticeable is how you can tell you’ve left Canada and entered the States. With all due respect, americans are louder, literally don’t really care about what other people think and in my opinion overall have more personality.
The city is also famous for having the first ever Starbucks store, which always happened to be jam-packed.
And because of the proximity to Vancouver there are of course many Canadians who take short trips to Seattle or the proximities mostly for cheaper groceries and gas.
Also not pictured here but very famous for is the Seattle Premium Outlets, which is actually located outside of Seattle in Tulalip. Clothing there is not that much cheaper as I thought it would be, maybe 20% cheaper than retail prices from stores like Macy’s, JCPenney and so on. The place it is though famous among students and international travellers that are spending some time in Vancouver. The Outlet Mall is sorta in between Vancouver and Seattle, being about 2 hours from Vancouver and 45m from Seattle downtown. Although those 2 hours to Vancouver can become even 5 during Black Friday in the States when a ton of canadians go south of the border for big discounts, which I still have to experience myself but then again thinking about being stuck at the border for a couple of hours I don’t think I’ll be Black Friday shopping anytime soon.
I didn’t use to travel much but once I started, I just can’t stop travelling. On Can I Pack? I try to share how I make my travels work out because travelling shouldn’t be hard.
